SOME NICE WORDS
"Sarah has done an amazing job of developing a writer-editor relationship that is both friendly and professional -- she frequently establishes her credibility by giving insightful feedback, on-point text comparisons, and genre insight. I found her character work most helpful. She is such a good editor that all I want is more time with her!" - Kelsey Day on editing YA sci-fi thriller Sleepwork
"The images in this story of loss are haunting. There is such a careful attention to language, to the beautiful rendering of a scene, even if what is being depicted is full of decay and death and darkness. I was so captivated by the writing that I found myself stopping and having to read passages again and again. I will be thinking of this story for a long time." - LaTanya McQueen about "Black Water"
"When I say [your poems] 'speak for themselves,' I think what I really mean is screams for attention, in the best way possible: your poems ache, and they brood, and they present us with the vision of a narrator who overcomes herself and her situation to find solace and self-acceptance, and, yes, emancipation from suffering. In poetic lyric and everyday idiom and uncommon metaphor (and everything in between) you give us a voice and a character who epitomizes strength and who mitigates a world of lies to find her own truth. Thank you, thank you for that." - Drew Haaland, The Cortland Writer, about "Three Poems: A Story of Domestic Abuse"
"Your command of the language is breathtaking." - Mario Hernandez, SUNY Cortland, about "Black Water"
"We really admire the writing, the balance of scene and summary, and the narrator's voice." - Rachel Hall, Gandy Dancer, about "To My Father"
