ABOUT ME
I have always had a passion for writing, but when I entered college, I had no idea how much I would enjoy editing. By working with authors to create Speak Magazine, Redivider literary journal, and Study Breaks Magazine (while I was an editing intern), and then editing manuscripts at Emerson, I discovered the joys and thrills of being an editor and haven’t looked back since.
From proofreading to providing detailed developmental critiques, I think what I enjoy most about editing is being able to preserve the writer’s voice while also giving it its best chance to be heard and understood by readers. It’s an important job, to say the least.
For my future publishing career, my goal is to help dispel editorial gatekeeping by supporting marginalized authors and their characters. I know what it’s like to finally see yourself represented in a book and the kind of power that holds, and will bring this perspective to any position I may hold.
